Pheasant hunting is a mania across the United States. You can pursue this colorful Chinese bird in all 48 states in the continental USA. Much of the terrain these birds prefer is heavily thicketed, with briars, thorns, and other protective foliage their chosen habitat. You might be able to flush planted pheasants on a game farm with gently grassy slopes, but pursuing the wild birds requires “busting” a little brush. Chaps, the hunting variety, not the ones the cowboys wear to protect them from sagebrush and saguaro cactus, are an important accessory for you in the field. A good quality set of hunting chaps, like those produced by Gamehide, protects your pants from rips, tears, and getting caught in low-lying thorns, thistles, and even the stray barb wire fence you might encounter in heavy brush. Wearing a pair of quality chaps is the perfect addition to a heavy canvas hunting jacket when you’re traipsing through the woods in search of these exciting gamebirds.

Have had these for about six months and put them through some brutal conditions. They are lightweight and pretty tough. Love the pockets on the front of them and the full zip on the sides. Did not think i needed either of these things but have come to really appreciate them. The pocket is perfect for a normal sized iPhone. I was also skeptical of the velcro belt straps, but they have held up very well and still are attaching like new. Highly recommended.

Worked great… walked 6 to 8 miles a day, mostly grass and small brush… temps below freezing to 50, no issues… kept the frost off, didn’t get wet, never got cold. I hunt pheasants in a variety of brush and briars and they meet my expectations.

Snakes can be a hindrance and a hazard and chances are we have all come across a poisonous snake or two while hunting. These snake-proof chaps from Rattler Store are thick enough to stop a snake from biting your leg and ankle. They come in brown and camouflage which makes them ideal for hunting and the straps are adjustable for proper positioning. They are made from water-resistant materials that help keep you dry and they are easy to buckle and unbuckle to take them on and off. What makes this a good pair of chaps for hunting is the thickness. Not only are you safe from snake bites, but it also protects your legs from thorny bushes, briars, and thistles. The only issue I have with chaps is they can be a bit noisy and although the thickness is a plus, it can slow you down. Other than that, I recommend these hunting chaps for their durability, thickness, and water resistance.
