From the time chicks arrive until they are six weeks old they should be fed a 30% protein medicated gamebird or turkey starter feed. The best medicated started feed contains 1 lb. Amprolium (a coccidiostat) per ton of feed. The feed should be in crumble form.
What to feed baby pheasant chicks?
Baby pheasant chicks need a high protein diet from the day they hatch.
Chicks need to be fed every three hours in the early days. When they are about one week old they can be fed every four hours and at four weeks old they can be fed every six hours. The food they need should be fed in the form of crumbles and should be laid in several feed stations so that the chicks have to get up to eat and exercise their legs.
Baby game bird feed contains the level of proteins, vitamins and minerals they need. Baby pheasants love nuts, fruit and seeds. So, to induce them to eat their feed you should sprinkle, or better still, drop them into the feed every third or fourth scoop of the food.
